Another exciting aspect of being in Mexico is focusing on how we can expand InVenture Fund’s work in Mexico once we have ensured that the pilot is successful. To this end, we have been meeting with different organizations in Mexico City to begin collaborations. It is great that all of these organizations are really interested in working together and believe that collaboration is important in order to make a difference.
On Wednesday of this week we met with Fundacion E which is an organization that manages over 500 incubators for entrepreneurs of varying socio-economic status throughout Mexico. They are also starting to work with Angel Investor groups to fund these entrepreneurs…which is where we saw a potential link with InVenture! We met at a restaurant in La Condesa and took turns explaining each of our models over some delicious pasta.
Thursday we got a chance to reconnect with two of our friends who we had met last time we were in Mexico City (January 2009). Their names are Juan and Noe (both are around our age) and they have started an awesome non-profit called Vinculo Comunitario. They basically do consulting for micro-enterprises in Mexico and are looking for funders…in fact we are having a follow-up meeting with them tomorrow to discuss potential collaborations! On Thursday we ended up meeting until 1:30 in the morning at this great place next to Palacio Bellas Artes in the center of the city.
We are so excited about all of the energy in our project and that is only revitalized by forming these partnerships with such amazing people working toward the same cause!
